Weekly Programs

Prayer Residents David Keller and Emily Wilmer

Welcome to our first director David Keller and his wife Emily Wilmer who will be in residence from July 16 – August 16.  Following the model they established with Bishop’s Ranch, an Episcopal retreat center in CA, they will be with us as “Prayer Residents.”  David and Emily will be our first long-term residents to practice the monastic model of an ongoing quiet prayer presence within EHOP.

While here, they will each lead a weekend retreat (details under the Programs/Retreat tab).

All are invited to join David and Emily for Contemplative Prayer experiences in the Oratory:  Monday – Friday Morning Sitting from 7:30-8:00 AM  (exception of July 31, August 1-2 and 6th).

David and Emily will also present Encounters with Jesus, a series of 10-15 minute reflections that include four incidents in the canonical gospels where Jesus encounters a variety of persons, and their lives are transformed.  These include Zacheus, the woman with a hemorrhage, the encounter between Jesus and Peter at Caesaria Philippi, and the foot washing.  Each reflection will be followed by a 30 minute sitting where all present can encounter Jesus in the silence.  These Encounters with Jesus are free and open to the public.

Thursday Encounters with Jesus from 5:00-5:45 PM, sessions on July 19 and 26, August 2 and 9.

Note:  Rooms are available during this time for those who would like to make an individual retreat and join our Prayer Residents in contemplation.  Contract Patricia at 320.363.3293 for registration details.

Wednesday Night Christian Contemplative Prayer

All are welcome to join us on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 for contemplative prayer. Free and open to the public, we sit together in the Oratory. The prayer begins with a simple chant, and we observe two 20-minute periods of silent prayer with a contemplative walk in between, concluding with a simple chant. If you are coming for the first time, we recommend you arrive ten minutes early so we can welcome you and introduce you to the practice and space.
