In this EHoP Mystics Series video, Susan Stabile lectures on the life of Saint Ignatius the foundations of Ignatian spirituality, and two specific forms of Ignatian prayer.

Ignatius was born in Spain at the end of the fifteenth century, the youngest of 13 children. As a young man, Ignatius loved women, gambling, and swordplay, and “was a man given to wordly vanities.” Then, in 1521, he was badly injured in battle and returned home to recuperate for a long period of time. “This long recovery without his usual pastimes opened up a space for God to work in him.”

Our Mission is to assist in the ongoing work of discerning God's presence, both within ourselves and in the world; provide guidance in the search for wisdom; teach all forms of contemplative prayer; offer training in the inner work of the spiritual life.

The Vision of the Episcopal House of Prayer is to be a contemplative ministry of spiritual transformation, grounded in the Christian tradition, in the practice of Benedictine hospitality, reaching out and welcoming all.
