The Peace of Prayer

The peace of prayer is to arrive fully in body, soul, spirit.

The Prayer Thread is a collection of teachings and practical prompts to help as we learn to pray in community. This text was originally delivered on June 19, 2024 as a short teaching at our online weekly prayer sit.

The peace of prayer is to arrive fully. To arrive fully in the peace of prayer is to arrive in body, soul, spirit.
To fully arrive in the peace of prayer in body,
is to honor the flesh,
is to be at ease in one’s skin,
is to befriend one’s pains,
is to recognize the shifts of aging,
is to savor particularity.
The peace of prayer can be found in the body.
To fully arrive in the peace of prayer in soul,
is to honor one’s call,
is to be at ease with one’s limits,
is to befriend the pain of growth,
is to recognize one’s gifts,
is to savor both-and.
The peace of prayer can be found in the soul.
To fully arrive in the peace of prayer in spirit,
is to honor interconnection,
is to be at ease with the unseen,
is to befriend unknowing and mystery,
is to recognize the real force of Love,
is to savor the universal.
The peace of prayer can be found in the Spirit.
May we all arrive fully!
May we know peace in our bodies!
May we know peace in our souls!
May we know peace in the Spirit!
May we all know the peace of fully arriving in prayer!
