We believe all people have a right to a fulfilling spiritual life. It is through contemplative spiritual practice that we are better able to understand ourselves and others, that we find connections with others and God, and can begin to engage in and change the world through love.
As a contemplative community of transformation, Episcopal House of Prayer seeks to learn what the times are asking of us. Our world is in desperate need of the transforming energy of love radiating from hearts steeped in prayer. EHoP is not a place of escape, but a hospitable space of deep formation, equipping spiritual seekers to be healers in a broken world. We do this through formal programming with wise teachers, through weekly opportunities for silent prayer and chanting, and through offering our facilities to individuals and groups in need of a beautiful and restful space for prayer, discernment and reflection.

Beginning Seekers
Many people feel called to meditation, prayer, or a deeper form of spirituality, but aren’t quite sure how to get started, or where to learn. At the House of Prayer, we’re committed to being a welcoming space that makes contemplative spirituality accessible and approachable to all. A great place to start is by attending one of our free, weekly contemplative gatherings, held at the House of Prayer, in the Twin Cities, and online. All are welcome at these gatherings, especially those are new to the practice of contemplative prayer. We also invite you to read through our Reflections & Teachings or sign up for a retreat.
Seasoned Seekers
Our offerings are designed to support spiritual seekers throughout their journey. Weekly contemplative gatherings at the House of Prayer, in the Twin Cities, and online provide a solid foundation for those seeking spiritual community. Our retreats offer a variety of opportunities to dive deeper, learn from well-known teachers, and spend sustained time in quiet contemplation. If you’re interested in making a deeper commitment to the contemplative way, joining our Contemplative Body may be for you.
Clergy/Lay Leaders
It is not uncommon that clergy receive little training in contemplative prayer and spiritual formation while in seminary. Education is largely focused on doctrine, tradition, and theory with minimal exposure to practical theology and ministry, including prayer forms and methods, spiritual direction, discernment, life stages, and exposure to the lives of Saints & Mystics.
We work to build spiritual competency among participating church leaders, better equipping them for the practical aspects of prayer and discernment in ministry. EHoP provides church leaders with tools and support to develop their own spiritual journey and with these practical competencies, better help congregants seeking depth and wholeness in their spiritual journey, especially when it comes to prayer, finding one’s purpose or path in life, and connecting deeply with others. Contact us to find out more about these opportunities.
