Healing Fragmentation by Holding the Tension of Opposites

As part of our ministry of spiritual transformation, EHoP offers reflections, teachings, and more to support the practice of holding the tension of opposites, as a way to facilitate the experience of wholeness.

Six pairs of opposites that make up six wholes will be discussed and held: GOD & WORLD, OLD & NEW, LIGHT & DARK, IN & OUT, FULL & EMPTY, and EXTERIOR & INTERIOR.

Central to this practice is to recognize our tendency to split the field and choose one opposite to embrace while disowning the other — especially when we feel threatened and desire a sense of control and security. This splitting results in behaviors that often cause violence to ourselves and others, and is evidenced in our often divisive and contentious social media landscape.

We invite you to journey with us as we add new reflections, teachings, and resources to the Awakening to Wholeness series.

Through our commitment to this practice, we hope to engage our growing community in movement from alienation from Source to participation in the Whole — merging with the larger field of Love that is the Body of Christ.

Mission & Vision

Our Mission is to assist in the ongoing work of discerning God's presence, both within ourselves and in the world; provide guidance in the search for wisdom; teach all forms of contemplative prayer; offer training in the inner work of the spiritual life.

The Vision of the Episcopal House of Prayer is to be a contemplative ministry of spiritual transformation, grounded in the Christian tradition, in the practice of Benedictine hospitality, reaching out and welcoming all.
