As the percentage of unaffiliated seekers or Spiritual But Not Religious people or “Nones” increases in America and in the world at large, a sizable number are drawn toward a spirituality of Nature. And while many of these seekers emphasize simply the physical challenge and deemphasize the theological aspect of their relationship with Nature, this workshop offers a spiritual/theological interpretation rooted in the Christian Mystical Tradition. In this workshop, we’ll focus on the landscape imagery found in the Catholic and Orthodox mystics, as well as the “Invisible Church” tradition of Protestant mysticism that carries over into transcendentalists like Emerson, Thoreau, and especially John Muir. We’ll learn and practice two types of meditation based in landscape imagery that lead into the silence: Wilderness Contemplative Prayer and Wilderness Insight Meditation. The weekend will provide ample personal retreat time in the woods, and space for discussion.

Take I-94 West to Exit 156 (St. John’s University). At the top of the ramp, turn left and drive toward campus. After the bus stop on your right, turn right onto Fruit Farm Road. Follow the road around the first bend and the EHOP is on your left. Street address is 14215 Fruit Farm Road.
From MSP Airport
Take I-494 West from the airport until it joins I-94 West to St. Cloud and follow the instructions above.
