What kinds of accommodations does Episcopal House of Prayer offer for retreat participants?
For our in-person retreats, EHoP provides accommodations in our guest rooms as well as three meals a day. EHoP provides towels and bed linens. More information on accommodations can be found here.
What is the cancellation policy for retreats? Can I receive a refund?
Do I need to be Episcopalian or religious to attend an EHoP retreat?
Not at all. Our community is made up of spiritual seekers from a variety of traditions. We especially welcome those who are new to the contemplative path, or who have never attended a retreat at Episcopal House of Prayer before.

Space Rentals
What is the space like? What kind of accommodations does EHoP offer?

When is the retreat house available for group rentals?
Our space is available for group rentals on weekends and weekdays, and can be booked by your group for a day, a weekend, or longer. To see when the retreat space is available, please check our availability calendar.
Is there a minimum number of nights required to rent the space?
There is no minimum stay: we welcome you to stay with us for a day, a weekend, or longer.
Are day rentals available?
We welcome day-only use groups. Groups visiting for the day can rent the Hearth Room, which seats up to 24 people, and will also have access to all shared spaces, including the oratory, dining room, and kitchen. To request a day rental, use the day-use only reservation request form.
How many people can stay at the retreat house?
EHoP has 8 single and 4 double bedrooms, for a total sleeping capacity of 16 (or 12 if everyone wants their own room). For day groups, our great room offers space for relaxation and meetings; the space comfortably seats 24, but can fit up to 30.
Do I have to rent out the entire retreat house, or can small groups or individuals book just a few rooms?
Personal or small group retreats can happen Monday through Thursday nights. To ensure you are the only overnight guests, we require a minimum of 8 guests (or the equivalent payment).
What are the accommodations like?
Each guest room has a sink, desk, bed, dresser drawers, and space for hanging clothes. Two baths with individual showers are at the end of the hall. Bed and bath linens are provided. More information on accommodations.
Does EHoP provide meals?
Groups have three options for meals: bringing and preparing their own food in our large and fully equipped kitchen, catering through St. John’s University food service (delivered to House of Prayer), or ordering and picking up from area restaurants. More information on meals.
Does my group have to be Episcopalian or religious to rent the retreat space?
Not at all: we welcome a wide variety of groups! The space is available for rent by companies and organizations for meetings and retreats. We’ve welcomed groups of all kinds: church staff, non-profits, writing and artist groups, health care providers, book clubs, yoga, and all seekers of spiritual transformation.
