Retreat Overview

Embark on an 8-month online spiritual development program designed to deepen your understanding of Spiral Dynamics, a model that maps the evolution of human consciousness and values. Each month, we’ll explore a different stage of development, from survival instincts to global consciousness, providing insights into personal growth, leadership, and societal change.​

Join us on this transformative journey and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you. Together, we will explore the stages of human development and how they shape our values, behaviors, and interactions.​

Retreat Format

  • Duration: 2 hours per session
  • Frequency: Once a month for 8 months.
  • Platform: Online via Zoom. You don’t need to live near the Episcopal House of Prayer to participate!
  • Format: Interactive presentations, contemplative dialogue, sacred listening

Monthly Themes & Structure

Month 1: Introduction to Spiral Dynamics

  • Overview of Spiral Dynamics and its application in personal and collective development.​
  • Introduction to the stages of development and how they influence behavior and values.​

Month 2: Beige – Survival

  • Exploring the survival instincts and basic needs that drive behavior.​
  • Understanding the transition from instinctual to social consciousness.​

Month 3: Purple – Tribal

  • Delving into the tribal and magical thinking that shapes early social structures.​​
  • Recognizing the importance of safety, belonging, and tradition.​

Month 4: Red – Power

  • Examining the emergence of power, dominance, and ego-driven behavior.​
  • Understanding the role of authority and control in shaping individual and group dynamics.​

Month 5: Blue – Order

  • Exploring the development of order, discipline, and adherence to rules and systems.​
  • Recognizing the importance of purpose, meaning, and stability.​

Month 6: Orange – Achievement

  • Delving into the rise of individualism, achievement, and material success.​
  • Understanding the role of logic, strategy, and innovation in personal and societal development.​

Month 7: Green – Community

  • Exploring the shift towards community, equality, and environmental consciousness.​
  • Recognizing the importance of empathy, diversity, and social justice.​

Month 8: Yellow – Integrative

  • Delving into the integrative and systemic thinking that characterizes higher stages of development.​
  • Understanding the role of complexity, flexibility, and holistic perspectives in navigating the world.​

About the Teacher

Wendy Mitch, owner of Shifting Perspectives: Coaching and Consulting has been challenging, training, and developing herself and others for more than 35 years. She is a Certified Integral Life Coach through New Ventures West, a Certified Teacher in the Enneagram Spectrum Method, has her master’s degree in Servant Leadership from Viterbo University, is a licensed facilitator for the Arbinger Institute, and is certified in The Wisdom Way: Whole Life Coaching methodology. Wendy has facilitated hundreds of workshops, seminars, and retreats in the areas of Outward Mindset, Servant Leadership, Self-Deception, Emotional Intelligence, the Medicine Wheel, Spiral Dynamics, The Enneagram, and Creating an Authentic Life.

Wendy’s passion, knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm continues to captivate her participants and instill positive, productive, and long-lasting change.

Wendy lives in Plover, Wisconsin with her husband, Rusty Mitch. Rusty and Wendy have 6 kids. Aside from coaching and consulting, Wendy leads an active lifestyle and loves engaging in outdoor activities — hiking, biking, kayaking, paddle-boarding, and mowing the lawn are some of her favorite pastimes.
