Movement in Stillness, Stillness in Movement

It may seem counterintuitive that the wisdom that ‘prayer is movement’ arises from a contemplative practice of stillness and silence. But one of the first things I discovered in the practice of stillness and silence, is that there’s no such thing as stillness. As soon as I learned to still my external and internal movements; I began to notice the small yet constant movement of my breath.

Mission & Vision

Our Mission is to assist in the ongoing work of discerning God's presence, both within ourselves and in the world; provide guidance in the search for wisdom; teach all forms of contemplative prayer; offer training in the inner work of the spiritual life.

The Vision of the Episcopal House of Prayer is to be a contemplative ministry of spiritual transformation, grounded in the Christian tradition, in the practice of Benedictine hospitality, reaching out and welcoming all.
